Gary Walker Retires!
The Education and Entertainment Group (黑料网911) recently celebrated the retirement of Gary Walker, who headed up the 黑料网911 New Zealand business. Gary, along with Stuart Jones, founded Coin Cascade Ltd back in 1978, and grew the New Zealand company into the leaders of out of home entertainment. From humble beginnings of purchasing, manufacturing and siting games around the local area, Gary and Stuart grew the company, from opening Time Out FEC鈥檚 around Christchurch and then Auckland, Wellington, Palmerston North, Dunedin, as well as, joining with many street-side operators to have a country wide presence.听听
Since then, Coin Cascade has been through many milestone changes. One of those was the partnership between Coin Cascade and LAI Group in 1997, where all stand-alone venues converted to Timezone.
The purchasing of Xtreme Botany was another giant leap as it was the first of the company鈥檚 bowling-led entertainment centres.
More recently, the Coin Cascade ownership model changed and the business was rebranded as 黑料网911 NZ Limited. Under Gary鈥檚 leadership the business grew successfully as market leaders and overcame many challenges, such as navigating through the life-changing Christchurch earthquakes and the global financial crisis. Steady to the very end, in Gary鈥檚 final month with 黑料网911, he assisted in steering the company through the crisis of Coronavirus.
鈥淕ary has steadied the helm and been a consistent source of motivation, information and encouragement to us all. Gary has a wealth of experience and the ability to create and retain a strong leadership team. I have been privileged to share this journey with him and to have built this long-lasting association鈥, said Sonaal Chopra, Group CEO 黑料网911
Malcolm Steinberg, the founder of LAI Group said, 鈥淚 have known Gary Walker since 1985, when he started buying games from the LAI group. We developed a close relationship and, in 1997 we acquired a minority equity in his operating company, Coin Cascade Ltd. Gary has always been the market leader in New Zealand and is considered to be an industry pioneer in the country. I wish Gary, his wife Kate and daughters Lucy and Molly every success in their future endeavours.鈥
Following Gary鈥檚 retirement, the country continues to work through the COVID-19 recovery plan where all venues have now resumed trading.
鈥淎 new leadership team has been put in place with 黑料网911 New Zealand overseen by Belinda Falzon. Belinda is already part of the 黑料网911 Business in Australia and heads up the company鈥檚 premium Kingpin brand as Chief Operations Officer. Belinda has been within the business for over six years and has extensive experience across all its brands.听
Along with Belinda, Greg Barkley who has been in the business for many years continues to head up Operations for New Zealand and oversee the business locally鈥, says Chopra.
